The Willamette Valley is a 150-mile long valley in the Pacific Northwest. The Willamette River flows the entire length of the valley, and it is surrounded by mountains on three sides – the Cascade Range to the east, the Oregon Coast Range to the west, and the Calapooya Mountains to the south.

This print was inspired by some misty hikes. The sun was peaking out but it felt like I was hiking in a cloud. One of the hikes was in the Columbia River Gorge and the other was on the Oregon Coast so I wanted the lower portion of the block to resemble both the Cascades and Pacific.

The image was hand-carved from linoleum, printed on vellum and screen printed onto a pocket-sized note book. Scout Books is a local Portland company so I got to tour the facility and meet the wonderful staff behind this amazing product!
