Current (Linocut)
Current (Linocut)
My sister recently moved to the southern tip of the Puget Sound. I’ve spent countless weekends driving north to explore the area. This image is inspired by a little marina we discovered. Some weekends we paddle but most of the time we just go to watch the tide drift out. We grew up on a lake just south of Lake Michigan. This place feels familiar. But then there’s the brackish water, Western Hemlocks and the Olympic Mountains looming in the backdrop that remind us that we are far from home. Washington is starting to grow on me.
Current is a linoleum block print. Each print is inked and printed by hand in my Portland studio. Due to the hand-made nature of printmaking, there are slight variations between prints. It’s what makes the medium so special.
