Ascent (Screen Print)
Ascent (Screen Print)
For art to exist, for any sort of aesthetic activity or perception to exist, a certain physiological precondition is indispensable: intoxication - Nietzsche
This series is inspired by my backpacking trip circumnavigating Mt Hood this summer. 40 miles, 10k elevation gain, views of distant mountain ranges, precarious river crossings, exhaustion and bliss. This particular view is from day 3 at Lamberson Butte. We started at Compass Creek to Tilly Jane, up to Lamberson Spur and then we camped at Newton Creek. Simply put, it kicked my ass. I aimed to capture that energy in this screen print, titled ascent.
This is a 10 color screen print. Each print is hand pulled, layer by layer. There are slight variations between prints, it’s what makes the medium so special.
